Davinci Resolve Upload More Than One Video
I've noticed that a lot of people having the trouble that they tin't import media to Davinci Resolve or media won't import. Therefore I decided to enquiry this problem further and have constitute some unlike solutions to the problem that have worked for different people.
I'm assuming that this trouble has to practice with video files. But these solutions may apply to whatever media you are importing, and so ringlet through them just in instance.
I have written the solutions in the order from the easiest to the most comprehensive ones. Which is the society I recommend trying them out every bit well. Merely feel free to do it in whatsoever order y'all want.
So let'southward get this import media problem stock-still once and for all!
i. Import Media the Correct Manner
And then this one is really obvious simply I decided to include in just in case anyone has made some bad habit or are doing it in some wierd way.
There is many different ways of importing media, and so I'll just embrace a few basic ones that will not cause you this import problem atleast.
The get-go i is just to open the binder on your computer where you take stored your videos and drag them into DaVinci Resolve. Either the timeline or the media pool.
Don't let my norwegian windows scare you, information technology's only the language that's different.
The second method is by going to File>Import file>Import Media or shortcut CTRL+I (Command+I for mac). I always recommend using the shortcut.
Then you just navigate to the binder where your media is stored and select which file you desire to import. When you've washed this you lot'll find it in your media pool.
So this was just to make sure you're really importing the right way. If this fixed your trouble, zilch is better than that. If not move on to solution number ii.
two. Change Media Storage Location
I read that some people fabricated it piece of work by changing the media storage location. What you desire to practise in this step is to add the location at which your media is stored.
Navigate to DaVinci Resolve>Preferences>Media Storage. Here you can add the location where the files are stored.
If your videos are saved on another drive than DaVinci Resolve is this may work for you lot. So what you lot practice is click on add together and so locate the folder which your videos are saved!
Since I'yard on my laptop with only a single SSD it's not possible for them to exist on separate drives.
Now that you lot have added the location of your videos go ahead and press save. And then you can try importing your media. If this didn't piece of work move on to the next solution.
3. Uninstall if DaVinci Resolve is downloaded from App Store
This is a problem for many MacBook users, if yous have downloaded DaVinci Resolve from App Shop this is most likely what causing the problem! Sadly at that place is something wrong with that version. But on the positive side, this is most likely what'southward causing your problem.
What y'all have to do now is just to uninstall DaVinci Resolve and download it from the original website.
This link will send you lot directly to the download folio on Blackmagic Blueprint'south website, which is the developers of DaVinci Resolve: https://world wide web.blackmagicdesign.com/products/davinciresolve/
4. DaVinci Resolve Does Not Support the Video Format
If your video format is not supported past DaVinci Resolve this is probably what's causing the problem.
First y'all got to know which video format your video is. If you already know this then do a google search on "Davinci Resolve supported video formats". If your file is non supported we accept to convert it to a format that is supported.
Just firstly for those who isn't certain what video format their video is or how to effigy it out. Nosotros'll cover this offset!
Locate the folder with your videos. So correct-click one of the videos and then go to properties.
Similar the gentleman I am, I've set the windows language to English just equally you lot at readers of Video With Jens get an easier time following the pictures of my illustrations!
And so here you tin come across part of your video format. This is the container, mine is mp4 and is supported past DaVinci Resolve. If the i your video is showing is not on the list you constitute in your google search. (Supported formats) Then nosotros take to convert it to another format. You lot can then skip the next sections about VLC and such, that for those who made the list.
If your container type is supported, you can as well check your codec which is besides may be unsupported. To effigy this out yous can download VLC media player (This is ane of the almost famous media players). Here is a link that will send you direct official download page: https://www.videolan.org/vlc/index.nb.html .
Once you've downloaded it, become to the folder with your videos again. Now right-click the video you want to bank check the codec on. Then "Open with>VLC Media player"
Once you have opened your video in VLC become to Tools>Codec Data or shortcut "CTRL+J".
In this window head to the tab that says Codec, so you can see your Codec. My video is H264/AVC which DaVinci Resolve supports. If DaVinci Resolve does non support yours we take to catechumen it to one that it does support. Then permit's get to it!
Converting video format:
The reason I wrote this as the last solution in the article is that yous have to download third-party softwares to do this step. I'm always a bit sceptical to download tertiary-party softwares myself and therefore I wanted you to try the easier ones first. Just I've researched and tried everything I share with yous here at Video With Jens so yous can chillax. (VLC is a fantastic media role player for those who wasn't familiar with it.)
At present let'southward get to the video format converting. In order for you to do this, you have to download HandBrake which is one of the most used video transcoders and one that makes every "5 best lists" (and yeah, that how I found out almost it). And nearly importantly it does a great job of converting.
Here'due south a link that sends you straight to their page: https://handbrake.fr/.
This is what it looks like by April 2020, yous just drag your video direct on top of that box.
It is actually user friendly so I won't bother explaining to much. Hither I've circled effectually the most important stuff for converting and set location of file of course.
What I do recommend is that you make a copy of your file simply in case anything should happen to it, only near likely it volition create a separate file.
The nigh of import thing is that you convert the file into one that DaVinci Resolve supports. When information technology's washed converting you lot'll find your file where y'all set the "Save as" location. And then y'all tin can bank check "Properties" if information technology'south inverse!
Now yous can endeavour to import information technology to DaVinci Resolve!
I really hope y'all found a solution to your trouble in this article. The solutions I've covered in this article are what seem to be the virtually mutual causes of the import event.
Something, important to mention! Especially if you're going to play the video on multiple devices or show the video to others:
I've seen so many videos ruined past this, so wanted to share it in this article every bit it has some traffic. It'southward simply a quick tip to set your audio quality. It's something that's harder and harder to practise considering the headphones, earbuds, laptops are getting quite avant-garde now. Meaning the audio is getting more and more than manipulated to satisfy your ears…
This is a good matter, notwithstanding, for video editors, not so much! Considering you lot tin't hear if your sound is bad, every bit your speakers are fixing the sound before information technology gets to your ears, even when you're editing in Davinci Resolve. Hence, the reason so many YouTubers take terrible audio, since they don't know it themself.
The only manner to fix the trouble is basically by using studio headphones, as these are only sending the genuine audio without any audio manipulation. By using those you tin can hear when the audio sounds bad! Only a quick tip. Here's an article I've written about a couple of studio headphones.
Today you've not only had video with Jens, but also Information technology with Jens!
All the best,
Your friend, Jens
